Prisoners of the Lost Universe

Prisoners of the Lost Universe is one of those rare achievements in cinema. It really takes a special brand of crappiness to force a film from the 1980s into the public domain. But, here it is in all of its glory.

John Saxon is the villain in this bad boy. Apparently his career died with Bruce, and he was forced into playing in crappy sci-fi movies, and to live on Elm Street.

In any case, the credits aren't really worth listing, but if you want some stupid sci-fi entertainment, then enjoy.

Ernest Saves Christmas

Ernest Saves Christmas is one of those special movies that brings out the best in all of us. Is it some complex story that takes a look at what makes us all special, and why the season brings out the best in us? Nope. But, it is a solid movie, and Jim Varney (RIP) is pretty funny as the lovable-bumbling Ernest.

I've loved this movie ever since I was a little kid, and it remains one of my favorites, even to this day.

Batman The Movie 1966

Here we get the 1966 version of Batman. If you're one of those people that takes Batman way too seriously, then this definitely isn't the movie for you. It's pretty campy, and is clearly meant for a younger audience. If you're looking for a fun movie, then I would recommend this, but be ready for extreme silliness.

April Fools Day

April Fools Day is your typical horror movie 80s style. I like this movie though because you have a little mystery going here. Of course it's not a scary nail biting who-dun-it, but it's a pretty entertaining movie if you're into 80s slasher films.

A nice addition to this movie is that we get Biff from Back to the Future running around, doing his Biff thing.

April Fools Day is worth a watch for all those 80s horror movie fans.

Black Christmas

Black Christmas was one of the first holiday themed horror movies (no, it wasn't the
first, for all of

you that feel the need to correct the most minor of errors). If you've

seen the 2006 remake, then

you have a basic idea of the plot. Basically, the story

revolves around a sorority house during

Christmas break. A psycho is making

threatening calls, and killing the girls one by one.

Black Christmas is pretty fun, and we get to see Olivia Hussey, of Romeo and Juliet
fame, getting

stalked by a killer. Enjoy.

Roy Moore

Friday the 13th 1980

Friday the 13th is nothing less than a classic. It kicked off the 80s with a bang, and provided a glimpse as to what the horror genre would become throughout the decade. We some good special effects and the shock ending is lengendary. Overall Friday the 13 needs to be seen by any fan of horror from the 1980s forward.

Tango & Cash

I don't intend to bookmark a lot of mainstream newer movies, but Tango & Cash is one of those movies that captures the human spirit (jk). This is a stupid buddy cop movie that I have to admit I love. It's more over-the-top than Over The Top was, and it's a lot of fun to watch.

Enjoy the Italian Stallion and Jack Burton doing what they do.

Horror Hotel - City of the Dead

Horror Hotel is a terrific movie from 1960. A young student is doing research on witchcraft. Her professor, Christopher Lee, recommends that she goes to a little town that he knows has a history of such matters. She notices that the people of the town seem to be a little strange. It's just a matter of time before she learns why these people act weird.

Horror Hotel was shot in B&B, which helps it create a creepy feel. This has Christopher Lee in it, so it has to be good.

Bride of Frankenstein

Here is the sequel to Frankenstein. Many consider this to better than the first, and I have to admit that advances in special effects had been made in the four years since the original.

We begin with Mary Shelley and a very flamboyant Lord Byran recalling scenes from the original. From there Mary decides to continue her story about the unfortunate monster.

Enjoy this great classic.

Frankenstein

This is the Universal Frankenstein that we all know. Boris Karloff with his flat head became the image that we think of when somebody mentions the monster. This version truly is a classic. If you enjoy classic horror, and you haven't seen this, then it's time you do.

Frankenstein is very atmospheric, and fun to watch.  Universal released a set with 5 of the Frankenstein movies. I'll post a link to it below.
Enjoy.

Frankenstein 1910

Here's an interesting piece for you. It's the first on screen appearance of Victor Frankenstein and his monster. It comes from 1910, so (obviously) there is no dialog. This was considered a lost movie until the 1970s, when a collector made its existence public. At less than 15 minutes it's worth a watch.

It's a must see for any horror fan.

Night of the Living Dead

Night of the Living Dead needs no introduction. George Romero changed the game when he introduced his version of the zombie. Audiences were shocked, terrified, discusted...

Well, enough said.
Here's Night of the Living Dead.

The Phantom of the Paradise

The Phantom of the Paradise is a definitely a strange movie. It is a combination of Faust, The Picture of Dorian Gray, and of course The Phantom of the Opera. If you want to 70s craziness, then this is the film for you.

Brian De Palma wrote/directed this, if you can believe it. It's definitely a few genres away from Scarface. Also, Jessica Harper, who you may remember from Dario Argento's Suspiria has a prominent role in this film.

Sit back, enjoy...and get weird.

White Zombie

It's time for White Zombie. No, I'm not talking about the crappy band that tries way too hard to be evil. I'm talking about the bad-ass 1932 film starring Dracula himself, Bela Lugosi.

This is considered the first feature length zombie film. White Zombie is atmospheric, and has a good story to it. This is a good movie for a fall afternoon.

Enjoy.
